Zhang, our protagonist, like many other Chinese immigrants in Quebec, runs a neighbourhood corner store seven days a week. He has been working diligently to provide security for his family in this new country.  As a result of this hard work, the pressure of responsibility had lifted somewhat until, suddenly, his resolve and his family’s security are challenged again by his reoccurring symptoms of lymphoma.

Following a chain of heartfelt events, this film is an exploration of the interior of Zhang in the days before his final diagnosis is released. Zhang is tormented by how to face his wife and children, how to prepare them for the possibility of a future without him. He fears in the face of cancer, but he realizes he has no choice but to bear his fate. He hides his symptoms from his family and friends and continues to stand behind the cash-counter, providing.
